Choosing the right Cut for long layered Hairstyles

[19 Jan 2012 | Comments Off | ]

Long layered hairstyles can provide a perfect change without losing too much of the original length. They create added volume and serve perfectly to frame a face, accentuating or drawing attention away from particular features.

Long layered hairstyles can also be employed to create a multitude of styles, depending on the occasion or simply on the mood of the wearer. Long layered hairstyles will be great as they are or can be used as a basis for half-up styles, casual curls, tendrils or bangs. To cut it short, long layered hairstyles provide incredible versatility.

The right type of layered cut depends on facial shape and length of the hair. If hair is to short to get the preferred style, extensions are a good way to get it right. Long layered hairstyles are particularly trendy using long choppy layers right now. This style requires the layers to be started at the very top and ended roughly an inch or so from the end of the hair.

Layers of really straight hair dropping down the sides are perfect for framing very distinct, sharp features, while large foreheads may be reduced suing a combination of layers and blunt bangs. A side-swept bang will create a dreamy, wispy fringe. This will create the best effect if the bang meets the center of the eyebrows. Thin, sparse hair is not terribly well suited for this look.

Softly cut long layered hairstyles work well with loose curls and waves. For a cute look, long layered bobs are the perfect choice. A so-called razor cut with the hair at the back being made shorter than the hair at the front is a good example, although this will lose a lot of the overall length.

Short, square jawed faces need a good hair length to be framed perfectly. Wispy bangs and razor cuts are much better here than straight, blunt bangs. To achieve a much softer look the overall length of the hair should be kept below shoulder level.

Medium-thick bangs to add volume, combined with layering a bulk of hair near the chin is ideal for round faced individuals. Short layers around the forehead should be avoided when framing oval faces, as they will create an even longer look.

Heart-shaped faces will benefit from long, soft layers incorporating various lengths, as this adds width to narrow jaw-lines and helps to even out the balance of the face, while rectangular faces are better served by geometric hairlines. The short layers of these cuts will add volume and elongate facial shapes.

Bangs are not necessary, but if they are used, it is best to go for the side-swept look. Diamond shaped faces should use simple layers that accentuate the cheekbones. Adding a choppy bang will provide extra appeal.
